Friends and Neighbors,
As you are now aware, the Beachwood Homeowners Association held elections this past Saturday, November 3, 2012. A new Board has been elected into service.
First, I would like to thank the board that has worked during the past year, these folks have put in many hours of volunteer time to help maintain our neighborhood under the guidelines of the HOA and have done a fine job during their term.
My name is Perri Davenport and I have been your neighbor along with my husband Brian VanderGoot since 1996. We were very excited to move into Beachwood as it was our first home after many years of condominium living and we were thrilled when we found Beachwood. We love this neighborhood and had many coworkers and friends living here when we first moved in. As you know, times change and people come and go, but we have decided to stay until we are ready for retirement. One of the attractions to us was the HOA. We had advocates in place to keep things maintained and did not have to feel pressure because there was a board to keep things rolling smoothly. It was a win-win situation.
Over the years, things have changed and I am no longer working. I have been at home for several years. During this past year, I have done some soul searching and was looking for something to volunteer my time to. What could be better than the community that I love and live in, it just makes sense.
I know that I am not alone when I say that the community is different than many years ago. I have spoken to many of you over the last few months who feel as though we are not making enough forward progress in a timely manner and perhaps feel that we are in a holding pattern, if you will. I am excited to say that we have a great group of people with diverse backgrounds to sit on the board this year. I personally have held Senior Management roles within the Customer Service field. I have managed 100+ seat call centers for many years for a few industries. Lysol Brand, Telecommunications and Personal Care products.
I want to let you know that we will be working tirelessly during the next 90 days to make some immediate changes. The first thing to be addressed is our financial situation. We will be bringing you all up to speed with our current finances. In addition, we will be reviewing the Beachwood Covenants and By Laws. These documents were created with the inception of the neighborhood and some have become totally obsolete. They need to be addressed, revised and redistributed. The front entrance of the community has been a concern as well, from my conversations with many of you. This too will be addressed and attended to as soon as possible. In the meantime, please continue to foster a sense of pride when thinking about our community. For most of us, our homes are our biggest personal asset and we need to protect our investments.
I ask that each of you please allow us to follow a 90 day plan and I am committed that we will have addressed the most pressing concerns in a priority level. This is not an easy task, but it is a doable one. The old saying "Every path has it's puddle " is true and nothing worth doing is easy.
I and the rest of the board are here to serve you, the community, and to allow us all to be proud when we turn onto Penselwood Drive at the end of a long day.
Warmest Regards,
~Perri Davenport
